Morgan Stanley Asset & Investment Trust Management Co., Limited (MSAITM) was established in 1987. Following eight years of growth, in 1995 MSAITM was the first U.S. investment manager to be granted a dual license for advisory and investment trust businesses in Japan. Today, MSAITM manages over ¥1.2 trillion in public and private pension assets, institutional investor portfolios as well as investment trust funds. (as of December 2010). These trust funds are available to individual investors through a distribution network of domestic financial institutions. MSAITM is part of Morgan Stanley's global investment management business, which manages approximately $265.8 billion worldwide (as of December 2010).
MSAITM is a wholly-owned unit of Morgan Stanley Japan Holdings Co., Ltd., which is 100% owned by Morgan Stanley, the ultimate parent entity.
